2006 Ford Racing - NASA Spec Focus Contingency
Program

 |
|
DEARBORN, Mich., April 19, 2006 – Ford Racing
Performance Group (FRPG) is partnering with the National Auto Sports
Association (NASA) in the creation of a new Ford Focus Spec class
for the 2006 season. FRPG Focus program manager Andy Slankard said,
"The Focus Spec class is designed to showcase Focus performance
parts and to provide an entry level competitive racing environment
that is affordable." |
The Ford Racing NASA Spec Focus class is open to all model years and
trim levels of Ford Focus including the SVT Focus and vehicles equipped
with the 2.3L engine. Parts allowances and restrictions equalize the
field based on different model combinations.
Class payouts include $500 to each regional champion in all NASA regions
with starting grids of 3 or more Spec Focus competitors. The class also
pays $1000 to the winner of the National Championship race at the NASA
Championships at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course on September 17, 2006.
Ford Racing Performance Group will also feature competitors on
fordracingparts.com utilizing photos and competitor information gathered
in the Focus Spec class registration process. Registration for the Ford
Racing NASA Spec Focus class is required for contingency eligibility.
Registration is available on-line by
clicking here . The class requires a minimum of four registrants by
September 1st, 2006.
The recent success of the Ford Racing FR500C Mustang program was
instrumental in prompting FRPG's involvement in the Focus Spec class.
Jamie Allison, Ford Racing Performance Group Manager added that, "We
wanted to be involved in Focus motorsports at the racer's level similar
to what we had accomplished with the FR500C. NASA was able to provide us
the ideal venue to showcase the inherent racing capability of the Focus
and allow us to showcase performance part offerings."
