Lapp Racing and Severns Racing to run in Western Endurance Championship
Team Spec Focus - West will Run in the 3 Hour Endurance Race at Buttonwillow Raceway Park
PALMDALE, Calif. — Lapp Racing and Severns Racing have agreed to run the #44 Lapp Racing Spec Focus Car in National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Western Endurance Racing Championship (WERC) under the new team banner of Team Spec Focus –West” with a 3-hour race on April 26th, 2008 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, in Buttonwillow California.
The drivers will be Ryan Lapp who is in his rookie season in NASA Spec Focus Series who’s looking too expanded into Endurance Racing. Ryan’s Co-Driver will be Spec Focus Series Director Ted Severns who was 2006 Spec Focus Champion in NASA Southern California Region. Ted is also a NASA Instructor and Lapp Racing’s Race Strategist/Driving coach.
The crew mainly made up from members of Lapp Racing and Severns Racing. The Team Owner and Car Chief is Mark Lapp (father of Ryan). Laura Lindsey is the Crew Chief for Severns Racing and will continue to be the Crew Chief for Team Spec Focus-West. Laura who has worked with Ted in the past is very happy to be working with Lapp Racing and Severns Racing for 2008. “I appreciate the positive environment and professionalism that this team has. I'm looking forward to learning more as an acting crew chief.” says Laura.
Other Crew members will be Scott Ninneman (Tires) and Todd Wilson (refueling). Todd is Managing Director of Team Boost Camel and is the current series director for Focus Challenge, a Time Attack Series for all Foci Track cars. Team Boost Camel Racing is currently building there own Spec Focus Race car as well to be debut later this year.
The #44 Ford Focus which will be in Spec Focus trim and will run in the E2 class of the WERC against other cars including, Spec Miatas, Spec 944, Spec E30, Honda Challenge 4, and other Performance Touring E and F cars. “The team that normally does well are the teams that make the least amount of mistakes”, says Ted. “The E2 Class is always the most competitive class in the WERC, we need to be prepare for anything and everything”.
